Basskickboom – You probably need a long course of antibiotics. The smell, coughing and sore throat all indicate you probably have a sinus infection. It doesn’t at all indicate you have AIDS and a sinsus infection.
mamawole – If you have HIV, the symptoms you describe are more than likely from an infection somewhere. Even relatively minor infections in the context of HIV can result in these sweats. Many patients with HIV will get infections without an elevated temperature.
Dear doc. I’m a 18 year old Male, i have been experiencing night sweats for the past 2 months, head presure, and a wierd smell in my nose when i breathe. Even a sore throat, and a lot of coughing, red small bumps on my tounge that burn when i drink or eat something hot.NOTE= I am a smoker to, now second problem: my large psychical problems, Im a very paranoid person, i’m afraid of deadly diseases such as AIDS,cancer etc! Please doctor how can i help myself out of this and to start living normal!
You can get night sweats from a drop in blood sugar during the night. When I had uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, I would get night sweats when my blood sugar dropped
The number one cause of night sweats (generally a sign of infection) that docs often miss come from low grade sinus infections. They can be so subtle that the patients my only have occasional head congestion, headaches or pressure. Don’t know if the HIV meds could of done something to set you up for an infection. recommend taking a short course of antibiotics such as Doxycycline (if you are not allergic to tetracycline antibiotics) to see if the symptoms improve. Good luck.
Dear Dr.pnemechek
I am 31yo male;had an exposure to HIV aprox 1yo ago;completed on PEP;continue to test negative for both HIV+HEPC.Everyday now since discontinuing PEP I experience night sweats. I have no other sypotoms (no fever;no gi problems; no resptory problems, It’s hard for be to believe the blood tests are neg with this annoying symptom. I never had night sweats before my exposure.
People should go see what Montagnier is saying now….on youtube….
Nobel Laureate Montagnier: HIV Can Be Cleared Naturally – House of Numbers
he admits that “hiv” won’t make healthy people sick and the drugs and vaccines are about profit not the health of the patient. Not that I think he’ll be giving his Nobel Prize back. He’s probably already cashed the check.
Rodney Richards, Ph.D., worked on the development of antibody (ELISA) and genetic “viral load” tests for Amgen and holds some related patents. “The diagnosis of being HIV positive is based on arbitrary combinations of tests, none of which are approved for diagnosing HIV,” he says. “In fact there is no test for HIV. It’s just an illusion.”

Hi! Please help! I’m experiencing profuse, drenching night sweats nightly for an entire year now. HIV Negative. No noticeable sinus symptoms. But I do have: significant recent hair loss (I’m a female of 37 years old) and extreme fatigue. I’ve had all the routine blood work with no findings. What could this be? It is destroying my life. I do take anti-anxiety meds (lexapro), trazadone and ambien for sleep. My thyroid is well controlled – I take 37.5 mcg of synthoid. Any ideas?
Yes. The drenching night sweats can occur in patients who are HIV negative. I view it with the same significance as a very high fever but you need not have an elevated temperature. If you are having sinus symptoms of any degree along with this, I’d try to get a CT scan of your sinuses and go see an ENT specialist. Sometimes it takes 1-2 months of antibiotics to clear things up completely or even perhaps some minor sinus surgery. Good luck.
Hey Doctor, Just wondering are night sweats symptoms of chronic sinus infection in patients who are HIV negative. Or are they only symptoms for postive people. Im asking this because I am negative but am having night sweats as you described along with sinus problems. In addtion, is a sinus infection a symptom of HIV infection?- Thanks
doc youre such a good server of the community you speak and explain clearly we thank you for such a wonderful information for us people who dont know the desease of hiv/aids,,,kip it up doc godbless always,by the way doc im a filipino!
Most people don’t feel much when infected. If they do it is often no more than what you may feel with the flu. If you are not feeling well and are conncerned about HIV, you need to go to a physician and find out what’s going on. Make sure you tell them your concerns about HIV.
also doc what is the most known symptoms for a patience whose positive on hiv/aids the most common doc what i mean is the symptoms that can be feel by 60 to 90% of the victim in a first few week or month?
Just saw this. Patients often need 1-2 months of antibiotics to completely make the night swets stay away completely. Its also not unusual for some patients to require sinus surgery or even infusions of immunoglobulin (antibodies) to get the sweats to stop.
Can anyone say ASS, Test Prop???
